Thailand On a Budget

Thailand is an amazing place with so much to see and do. Fortunately, the majority of activities in Thailand are either very cheap or free. You will want to maximise your holiday investment by ensuring you stay in a good quality, affordable and sensibly priced hotel.

If it is your first time visiting Thailand, it can be quite daunting to consider amongst the multitude of accommodation options. You have basic hotels and guest rooms starting from as little $ 5 per day. Bangkok has thousands of hotels, and you want to be sure to examine all the options thoroughly before committing your hard earned money in a society that can not be what you want.

Things to consider when booking a hotel in Bangkok, or any of the other destinations in Thailand:

1. The location of the 'hotel. The hotel is in a decent position? E 'near other hotels and attractions? E 'close to restaurants and transport? Discoverhotel is on a map.

2. How many stars is the hotel? While not always 100% accurate, this is a good way to gauge the quality of the hotel.

3. Can you get access to ratings and comments from other guests who have stayed at the hotel? Are all these comments and ratings favourable?

4. Can you view pictures of the hotel and facilities, including photos of the inside of the rooms where you will be staying. Try to see photos of the bathroom, as this is often a good indication of the quality and condition of the other fixtures and fittings in your room and the hotel in general.

5. Does the room have air conditioning? This is critical in the warmer months, as the humidity and heat in Thailand can be quite high. You will find yourself sweating 5 minutes after you have a shower and get changed. Some rooms are equipped with fans only. While this goes some way to cooling you down, it is really no substitute for air conditioning. If you get to your hotel, and the airconditioning in your room is not working - demand another room.

6. Is breakfast included? While this is not critical, as food in Thailand is quite cheap, it is always nice to know that it is there if you want the option.

7. Payment methods. Does the hotel accept common payment methods like MasterCard, Amex and Visa as well as cash?

That's about it for this article. I hope you enjoy your stay in Thailand
